History of Political Education
Political education has been developed through many centuries. Political education initiated by Aristotle in 335 B.C through the institute of Lyceum to gain the contribution of society to strengthen the direct democracy. As a result, the concept has influenced on the suitability of political decision making and betterment of the society.
During the political changes and the revolutions, political education has been impacted in substantial manner. French revolution is the one of most impactive results of the political education. In Marxism, political education has directed society for the common betterment and strong party organization. But in Nazism, political education has directed for dictatorship.
In modern era, at the key political changes, political education has utilized as a social science. In Sri Lanka, political education has remarkably used by the socialism-based parties. Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is the key example for the scenario. Liberal based parties are utilizing the political education in lean manner for opportunity creation.
